The beauty I found about forest is the synergy between big trees and smal plants.
In a forest reserve located in Sandakan, I noticed between the branches of these big trees, there is always allowance of gaps that provide sufficient space for the sunlight to penetrate onto the ground. Hence, regardless the height of these big trees, they never block the sunlight for the smaller trees, shrubs, grass and weeds that grow around them. This allows small plants to grow well under these tall trees. Because of these smaller plants, the surface of the soil is protected from flushing away by heavy rain or flood.
The forest reminds me about wealth disparity (difference of height between plants) which is a phenomenon in our community (forest). Despite the height difference, plants in forest are able to grow synergistically without offsetting the ecology balance. When we review the human being, despite the creation of various system (theocracy, monarchy, imperialism, capitalism, socialism, communism etc), it fails to solve the conflict among human being. Based on result, system is unable to solve the conflict of human being effectively.
I believe, the key to solve conflict among human relies on the attitude which the human choose to embrace.
From the relationship between tall trees and small plants, I saw generosity, tolerance, thankfulness, and hardworking. These attitudes are different from greed, hostility, hatred and laziness. Both kinds of attitude will lead us to different paths.
